CNN —Sitting too much may send you to an early death, likely from chronic diseases such as obesity, type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease and more, according to research. “The question is, if you have a restorative or recharging sleep, is that better than sitting on the couch eating and watching TV? While the study found swapping sitting for sleep improved health, benefits were not equal, the authors said. More vigorous exercise is best, but standing, walking and even sleeping is better than just sitting, experts say. “Since most songs average at least 3 minutes, you can dance off the negative impact of too much sitting.

Asia-Pacific markets mostly fell on the final trading day of the first half of the year. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose, lifted by shares of large banks jumping after passing the Federal Reserve's annual stress test. A revised U.S. gross domestic product print also helped lift investor sentiment, alleviating recession fears on Wall Street. Investors will look ahead to the latest data on personal consumption expenditures, the Federal Reserve's favored inflation gauge. Japanese stocks fell as investors digested Tokyo's core consumer price index, which remained at levels above the central bank's target for thirteen straight months.

The southern branch of the Druzhba pipeline supplies Hungary, Slovakia and the Czech Republic. The EU imposed an embargo on Russian oil purchases via maritime routes from December. Hungary, Slovakia and Czech Repubic were, however, allowed to continue Russian oil imports as critical feedstock. Oil supplies via a section of the southern Druzhba pipeline were temporarily suspended in November following shelling on a power station which provides electricity for a pump station. The Druzhba pipeline crosses Belarus and Ukraine and remains an income source for both countries which receive transit fees.

[1/2] Zsolt Hernadi, Executive Chairman of Hungarian oil and gas group MOL poses during an interview with Reuters in Budapest, Hungary, April 27, 2023. Hernadi said MOL was fighting to prevent a hike in oil transit fees in Ukraine and also in Croatia. The BTC pipeline transports crude oil from offshore oil fields in the Caspian Sea to the Turkish coast. He said MOL would pay Ukraine's pipeline operator Ukrtransnafta directly for the transit of Russian oil but there was still a dispute over a Ukrainian hike in fees. "There are still disputes, discussions ongoing about the transit fee, as a multi-fold increase has been flagged (by Ukraine)."
The Supreme Court ruled Tuesday that New Jersey can unilaterally withdraw from the longstanding Waterfront Commission Compact it has with New York to police corruption in the shipping industry in the major port the two states share. All nine of the Supreme Court's justices voted to dismiss arguments by New York in favor of forcing New Jersey to stay in the compact. "Since the first hours of our time in office, my Administration has steadfastly pursued the dissolution of the Waterfront Commission because it was the right thing to do," Murphy said. The two-member Waterfront Commission was created in 1953 by New York and New Jersey to address labor corruption in the Port of New York and New Jersey. New York claimed that the agreement "does not allow either State to unilaterally withdraw," Kavanaugh noted in his opinion.

New York-based Amogy has created a retrofit energy system to replace engines, which allows ammonia to be used as a fuel. Ammonia is predicted to account for 45% of all shipping fuel in a net zero 2050 scenario modeled by the International Energy Agency. The company is also working with upstream players to help decarbonize the fuel, Woo said.

SINGAPORE, Dec 23 (Reuters) - Japanese shipping company Mitsui O.S.K Lines (MOL) (9104.T) and Kansai Electric Power Co (KEPCO) (9503.T) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to study the development of a carbon capture and storage (CCS) value chain. The value chain includes the separation, capture, transportation, injection and storage of carbon dioxide emitted from KEPCO's thermal power plants, said MOL in a statement on Wednesday. Both MOL and KEPCO will also look at developing marine transportation of liquefied carbon dioxide to potential storage sites, the statement added. Industries worldwide are exploring carbon capture and storage solutions to try to reduce emissions and meet environmental targets. [1/2] Drivers wait for fuel at a gas station of Hungarian oil company MOL Group in Budapest, Hungary, December 5, 2022. MOL, Hungary's main oil and gas group, has said the price cap was unsustainable as major players stopped importing fuel due to low prices, aggravating the shortage. "In the past days, the oil sanctions of Brussels took effect and what we had been afraid of, has actually happened. From now on there are sanctions prices on petrol across entire Europe," Orban said on Facebook, adding the government will "take away the extra profits generated by this" and redirect them to the state budget. At 1218 GMT, its shares traded 1.8% lower, reversing earlier gains of around 3% after the fuel price cap was ditched overnight.
Prime Minister Viktor Orban's chief of staff told a briefing late Tuesday the government had to abolish the price cap, which was introduced a year ago, at MOL's recommendation immediately. The price cap was set to expire at the end of December. Gulyas said the ending of the price cap will boost inflation but did not give an estimate. In July, the government had to narrow the scope of eligibility, and since then the fuel price cap has applied to drivers of privately owned vehicles, farm vehicles and taxis. But the scrapping of the price cap would help alleviate the shortage on the market within a few days, he said.

A European Union embargo from Dec. 5 is set to ban European buyers from purchasing and transporting Russian oil. As a major route for Kazakhstan's oil, CPC oil exports are excluded from the ban. "Russian oil is leaving BTC, the reason is sanctions, BTC doesn't let Russian oil in," - one of the sources said. CPC Blend exported via the CPC pipeline currently trades at a significant discount to Azeri BTC oil, which is supplied via BTC. The main exporters of the Azeri BTC oil are Azerbaijan's SOCAR and BP, as well as Hungarian company MOL, Exxon (XOM.N) and Turkey's TPAO.

Companies MOL Magyar Olajes Gazipari Nyrt FollowBUDAPEST, Nov 18 (Reuters) - Hungarian oil and gas group MOL (MOLB.BU) said it was temporarily curbing fuel deliveries to some retailers as oil supplies from Russia fell "substantially" below normal levels, the company told state news agency MTI on Friday. Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said on Wednesday that oil shipments via the pipeline have restarted. But MOL told MTI on Friday that Hungary's oil imports have fallen as deliveries via the pipeline resumed only at a low pressure. MOL also said maintenance at its main Danube refinery in Hungary caused a drop in capacity, affecting all of its products. MOL spokespeople did not immediately respond to questions about when normal oil flows could resume.

John Thys/Pool via REUTERSBUDAPEST, Nov 16 (Reuters) - The Druzhba oil pipeline can likely be restarted within a short time as the pipeline itself had not been damaged, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said in a video on his Facebook page on Wednesday. Szijjarto also said, after talking with the Polish foreign minister, that Hungary was waiting further information from Poland on the results of their investigation into the blast that occurred in Poland near the Ukrainian border. Oil supply to parts of Eastern and Central Europe via a section of the Druzhba pipeline had been temporarily suspended on Tuesday, according to oil pipeline operators in Hungary and Slovakia. "Its somewhat reassuring news that according to current information, the Druzhba pipeline itself was not damaged, only one element of the infrastructure that operates the pipeline, a power station," Szijjarto said.

LISBON, Feb 22 (Reuters) - Heavy tug boats on Tuesday sprayed water on a ship off the coast of Portugal's Azore Islands which went on fire nearly a week ago carrying thousands of Porsches and Bentleys, an incident insurance experts said could result in $155 million in losses. The 22 crew members on board the ship, called the Felicity Ace, were evacuated the same day the fire broke out. Two large tug boats equipped with firefighting gear arrived from Gibraltar on Monday, and were working with another patrol boat to spray water at the Felicity Ace and cool it down, MOL said.
